Linux Turns 33

2 minutes read

Today, 33 years ago, Linus Torvalds announced Linux to the world in a mailing list, asking for features that people like/dislike about Minux. I hav e no idea what Minux is but it seems to be another operating system from 1990’s.

Linux Mailing List World Introduction, 33 years ago today.

Linux has played a big part in my life over the last few years. In the last 3-4 years, I have been had an online persona all around Linux, back before I became an alien, back when I was called LinuxGamer. I have used many distrobutions and have enjoyed every minute of it.

For those that are unaware, Linux is a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) operating system, started in 1991 as a personal project of a Finnish student by the name of Linus Torvalds. Linux is now a popular server, and desktop OS with many businesses running software and servers on Linux (including Microsoft, ironic really).

Over my years on Linux, I feel obliged to wish the project a very happy birthday, I love the project which powers some of my favourite distros.
